Personalization should be inspectable
AI systems can infer patterns from conversation, voice notes, images, calendars, music, books, and activity data. That power is only defensible when the person understands what entered the system and what came out. A useful profile should show each derived signal, its source category, confidence, visibility, and revision history in language a person can challenge.
Raw material and derived meaning are not the same thing. A private journal entry might support a broad signal such as “prefers quiet weekend activities,” but the original sentence should never appear in a match explanation. Systems need technical separation between private source items and the small set of safe signals allowed into ranking or explanations.
Consent must remain specific and reversible
Connecting an external service should not grant permanent, unlimited access. Each connector needs a clear authorization scope, a way to inspect imported signals, a resync control, revocation, and complete deletion. Turning off a connector should remove its tokens and derived data according to a documented lifecycle, not merely hide a badge in the interface.
Visibility should also be granular. A signal may be used privately for learning, allowed in a safe match explanation, hidden temporarily, or deleted. Changes should create an audit-friendly revision without placing sensitive content in analytics or operational logs.
Define what the agent cannot do
Trust grows from boundaries as much as features. An AI agent should not open a conversation, accept a person, confirm a meeting, alter privacy, or send private material to another user. High-impact actions need a clear human decision and an auditable server-side transition. Moderation should occur before unsafe content is stored or delivered whenever possible.
